چکیده

Slurry storage is a significant source of NH3 and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The aim this laboratory study was to assess the effects different chemical additives biochars on emissions NH3, N2O, CO2, CH4 during short-term pig slurry. experiment performed using Kilner jars filled with raw slurry as control six treatment (5% w/w): acidified slurry, alkalinized neutralized agroforestry biochar, cardoon elderberry biochar. were measured for 30 days, composition slurries determined. During storage, results indicated that reduced by 58% acidification 20% (Agroforestry, Cardoon, Elderberry treatments), while neutralization loss only 12%. Nitrous oxide not (Acidified, Alkalinized, Neutralized increased 12% biochars. Carbon dioxide, CH4, global warming potential affected Furthermore, absence differences between may be related their similar composition. Regarding influence studied losses, it can concluded best mitigation measure quite due had advantage sanitizing but mild impact preservation.

Greenhouse Gas and Ammonia Emissions from Slurry Storage: Impacts of Temperature and Potential Mitigation through Covering (Pig Slurry) or Acidification (Cattle Slurry).

Storage of livestock slurries is a significant source of methane (CH) and ammonia (NH) emissions to the atmosphere, for which accurate quantification and potential mitigation methods are required. Methane and NH emissions were measured from pilot-scale cattle slurry (CS) and pig slurry (PS) stores under cool, temperate, and warm conditions (approximately 8, 11, and 17°C, respectively) and inclu...

Greenhouse gas and ammonia emission abatement by slurry treatment

NH3, CH4 and N2O emissions from dairy cattle and pig slurries were quantified. The effect of the following treatments was investigated: untreated covered slurry, mechanically separated slurry, anaerobically digested slurry, slurry covered with a layer of straw, and slurry aeration. Measurements were carried out with dairy cattle and with pig slurry, in winter and in summer. After storage, slurr...

Impact of chemically amended pig slurry on greenhouse gas emissions, soil properties and leachate.

The effectiveness of chemical amendment of pig slurry to ameliorate phosphorus (P) losses in runoff is well studied, but research mainly has concentrated only on the runoff pathway. The aims of this study were to investigate changes to leachate nutrient losses, soil properties and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions due to the chemical amendment of pig slurry spread at 19 kg total phosphorus (TP), 9...
